Your safety matters
DancingPartners is designed to help you connect with people who share your love of Latin dance. Most users are genuine and respectful — but online dating always carries some risk. These tips can help you stay safe whether you are chatting inside the app or meeting in person.
Please read these tips before you go on your first date.
1. Before you meet
Video chat first
- Before meeting in person, do a video call inside the app or on another platform.
- A video call helps confirm the person looks like their photos and is who they say they are.
- Reluctance to video chat — especially paired with a reason that always changes — is a warning sign.
Research the person
- Do a quick internet search of their name and any information they have shared.
- Consider a reverse image search of their profile photos using Google Images or TinEye.
- Check for inconsistencies between what they say and what you find online.
Keep communication inside the app
- While you are getting to know someone, keep your conversation inside DancingPartners.
- Moving immediately to a personal phone number, WhatsApp, or another platform before you trust the person can expose you if things go wrong.
- Never share your home address, workplace, or full legal name with someone you have just met.
2. Meeting in person
Meet in a public place
- Choose a busy, well-lit, public venue for your first few meetings — a cafe, restaurant, or dance studio, not a private home or hotel room.
- Tell a friend or family member where you are going, who you are meeting, and when to expect you back.
Share your location
- Share your real-time location with a trusted friend before the date and keep it active until you are safely home.
- On iPhone: use "Share My Location" in the Find My app. On Android: use Google Maps location sharing.
Arrange your own transport
- Drive yourself, take public transport, or use a rideshare so you can leave independently at any time.
- Do not get into a private vehicle with someone you do not yet trust.
Stay sober enough to make decisions
- Alcohol or other substances impair judgment. Drink moderately and never leave your drink unattended.
- If you feel suddenly, unusually drowsy or disoriented, trust your instincts and leave immediately.
Have an exit plan
- It is always okay to leave. You do not owe anyone an explanation.
- Have a trusted friend agree to call you 30 minutes into the date so you have an easy reason to leave if you feel uncomfortable.
3. Warning signs (red flags)
Be cautious if someone you meet online:
- Asks for money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers for any reason — no matter how compelling the story. This is almost always a scam.
- Refuses to video chat or always has a reason to avoid showing their face.
- Escalates intimacy or emotional intensity very quickly — declarations of love within days are a classic manipulation technique.
- Only contacts you outside the app, or pushes you to move to personal channels immediately.
- Stories are inconsistent — job, location, family details do not add up.
- Discourages you from talking to friends or family about them.
- Asks for explicit photos early in the conversation — this is sometimes used for blackmail (sextortion).
- Profile photos look professionally taken or too good — check with a reverse image search.
If something feels wrong, trust your instincts. You can unmatch and report at any time.
4. Online safety
- Use a strong, unique password for your DancingPartners account.
- Enable two-factor authentication on your email account.
- Do not share your account credentials with anyone.
- Log out of the app on shared devices.
- Report any suspicious messages, even if you are not sure — we would rather receive a false alarm than miss a real threat.
5. Report concerns immediately
If you believe you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 (US) or your local emergency number.
For non-emergency concerns about another user on DancingPartners:
- Use the Report button on their profile (three-dot menu → Report).
- Email us at developers@tenikopr.com with the subject
Safety report.
We review all safety reports promptly and take them seriously.
